THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL WILL BE OUT IN FULL FORCE THIS THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY PERIOD CONDUCTING MORE THAN 50 SOBRIETY AND DRIVER LICENSE CHECKPOINTS STATEWIDE. THANKS TO A GRANT PROVIDED THROUGH THE GOVERNOR’S HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE, THE THP WILL KICK OFF THE LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND BY TAKING PART IN A LAW ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN CALLED CARE, OR COMBINED ACCIDENT REDUCTION EFFORT, ACROSS THE STATE. THAT MEANS A STATE TROOPER WILL BE POSTED EVERY 15 MILES ALONG INTERSTATE 40. 13 PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN CRASHES ON TENNESSEE ROADS DURING THE 2007 THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THE 2008 THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY PERIOD BEGINS AT 6 O’CLOCK ON WEDNESDAY EVENING AND RUNS THROUGH MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH.
