ALTHOUGH THE CASE REMAINS OPEN, UNICOI COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY TONY CLARK SAYS NO ONE HAS BEEN INDICTED AS THE RESULT OF MORE THAN 22-THOUSAND DOLLARS MISSING FROM THE UNICOI COUNTY SESSION’S COURT CLERK’S OFFICE. CLARK SAID A COUNTY EMPLOYEE LIKELY STOLE THE FUNDS, BUT A GRAND JURY COULD NOT PLACE THE BLAME ON ANYONE SPECIFICALLY. CLARK SAID, SOMEONE MADE OFF WITH THE MONEY BETWEEN 2005 AND 2007. EIGHT TO TEN PEOPLE HAD ACCESS TO THE CASH DRAWER. NO ONE WAS INDICTED BECAUSE THE COUNTY FAILED TO KEEP ANY RECORDS OF WHO WORKED WHEN. THE CASE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
