A FORMER TRI CITIES TEACHER HAS BEEN CHARGED BY GATLINBURG POLICE WITH CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR. GREG WRIGHT, A FORMER MATH TEACHER FOR FIVE YEARS AT DOBYNS-BENNETT HIGH SCHOOL IN KINGSPORT, RESIGNED ON SEPTEMBER 10TH. AT THAT TIME, KINGSPORT POLICE WERE INVESTIGATING CLAIMS HE PROVIDED ALCOHOL TO STUDENTS. HOWEVER, THEY PASSED THE INFORMATION TO GATLINBURG POLICE SINCE THE ALLEGED INCIDENT TOOK PLACE AT A RENTAL CABIN ON JULY 30TH IN THEIR JURDISDICTION. THE TRIP WAS NOT SCHOOL SPONSORED, BUT AT LEAST FOUR D-B STUDENTS WERE REPORTEDLY UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF WRIGHT. HE IS FACING FOUR COUNTS OF CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR WHICH IS A MISDEMANOR. EACH COUNT IS PUNISHABLE BY FINES AND PROBATION, OR A MAXIMUM OF 11 MONTHS AND 29 DAYS IN JAIL. WRIGHT IS SET TO APPEAR IN SEVIER COUNTY GENERAL SESSIONS COURT ON NOVEMBER 26TH.
