A HIGH SPEED CHASE OVER THE WEEKEND THAT INVOLVED SEVERAL TRI CITIES LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES HAS LANDED AN ABINGDON VIRGINIA BEHIND BARS. THE CHASE BEGAN AROUND MIDNIGHT SUNDAY IN ABINGDON WHEN POLICE PULLED OVER A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY 24 YEAR OLD JULIAN BLAKE FORRESTER OF ABINGDON FOR A TRAFFIC VIOLATION. THE CHASE AT SPEEDS EXCEEDING 100 MILES PER HOUR INVOLVED DEPUTIES FROM BRISTOL VIRGINIA, BRISTOL TENNESSEE, SULLIVAN COUNTY, AND WASHINGTON COUNTY VIRGINIA. THE PURSUIT LAST SEVERAL HOURS, ENDING THIS MORNING AROUND 4 A.M. POLICE USED SPIKE STRIPS TO EVENTUALLY STOP THE SUSPECT’S CAR. FORRESTED EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND FLED ON FOOT BEFORE BEING SUBDUED BY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES. HE WAS CHARGED WITH FELONY ELUDE, RESISTING ARREST, AND RECKLESS DRIVING. IN ADDITION TO THE CHARGES PLACED BY WASHINGTON COUNTY AND ABINGDON, THE CITIES OF BRISTOL VIRGINIA AND BRISTOL TENNESSEE ANTICIPATE ADDITIONAL CHARGES. HE’S BEING HELD WITHOUT BOND IN THE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA REGIONAL JAIL IN ABINGDON.
