A DICKENSON COUNTY VIRGINIA WOMAN HAS HAD HER MURDER TRIAL POSTPONED IN RUSSELL COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT. DENISHA SWEENEY OF HAYSI IS CHARGED WITH SECOND DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF MATTHEW SWEENEY IN 2005 AT THE COUPLE’S MOBILE HOME IN THE BEAN BRANCH AREA. SWEENEY ADMITTED TO THE SHOOTING DURING A PRELIMINARY HEARING, SAYING SHE SHOT HER HUSBAND AFTER HE BEAT HER. A MISTRIAL WAS DECLARED EARLIER THIS YEAR WHEN A DICKENSON COUNTY JURY COULDN’T BE SEATED. SO THE TRIAL WAS MOVED TO RUSSELL COUNTY WHERE IT WOULD BE EASIER TO SEAT A JURY. IT WAS SET TO START ON OCTOBER 27TH, BUT NOW A NEW TRIAL DATE HAS TO BE SCHEDULED.
