KINGSPORT POLICE ARE CONTINUING TO SEARCH FOR A MAN WANTED IN A SHOOTING SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. 30 YEAR OLD SHAMARKUS MASON IS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED FIRST-DEGREE MURDER, POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON, AND POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITHIN 1,000 FEET OF A SCHOOL. THE CHARGES STEM FROM AN AUGUST 15TH SHOOTING AT LEE APARTMENTS. MASON AND 44 YEAR OLD JOSEPH BEARD EXCHANGED GUNFIRE AT CLOSE RANGE. MASON HASN’T BEEN SEEN SINCE HE POSTED BOND. HE’S DESCRIBED AS BLACK MALE 5-10 275 WITH EXTENSITVE TATTOOS. HE HAS BROWN EYES AND AND BLACK HAIR THAT WAS IN DREADS WHEN HE WAS FREED ON BOND. MEANWHILE, BEARD REMAINS JAILED ON 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND. HE’S CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED SECOND DEGREE MURDER, TWO COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A HANDGUN BY A CONVICTED FELON. HE’S SCHEDULED TO APPEAR IN SULLIVAN COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT DECEMBER 8TH.
