A KINGSPORT BUSINESS OWNER ACCUSED OF KILLING AN ELIZABETHTON MAN EARLIER THIS YEAR HAS BEEN ARRESTED BY THE SULLIVAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE. ON APRIL 11TH, A SHOOTING OCCURRED ON MORELAND DRIVE NEAR KINGSPORT. THE VICTIM, 31 YEAR OLD JAMES GUINN WAS SHOT ONE TIME IN THE CHEST AND LATER DIED AT HOLSTON VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER. THE SHOOTING RESULTED FROM AN APPARENT ALTERCATION BETWEEN GUINN, AN EMPLOYEE OF KINGSPORT TRANSFER COMPANY FOR ONLY A FEW WEEKS, AND THE COMPANY’S OWNER SAMUEL IRESON. IRESON CLAIMS HE SHOT GUINN AFTER HE CAME AT HIM WITH A KNIFE. LAST WEEK, THE EVIDENCE IN THE CASE WAS PRESENTED BEFORE A SULLIVAN COUNTY GRAND JURY. A WARRANT WAS ISSUED FOR IRESON, AND HE WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER. IRESON WAS RELEASED ON A 25-THOUSAND DOLLAR BOND.
