A JUDGE’S ORDER WILL KEEP A KINGSPORT DRUG SUSPECT BEHIND BARS FOR A WHILE LONGER. JIMMY SWAFFORD IS CHARGED WITH DRUG CONSPIRACY. THE CHARGES STEM FROM AN INVESTIGATION INTO A DRUG TRAFFICKING OPERATION THAT ALLEGEDLY BROUGHT IN MORE THAN 700 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA INTO THE TRI-CITIES. SWAFFORD’S ATTORNEY, RICK SPIVEY, ASKED A JUDGE YESTERDAY TO RESET SWAFFORD’S BOND HEARING BECAUSE CO-COUNSEL JIM BOWMAN COULDN’T ATTEND. JUDGE JERRY BECK SUSPENDED SWAFFORD’S CURRENT 100-THOUSAND DOLLAR BOND AND SET A NEW COURT DATE FOR NOVEMBER 13TH. HE WILL REMAIN BEHIND BARS UNTIL THAT BOND HEARING.
