A PRELIMINARY HEARING FOR A SULLIVAN COUNTY COUPLE ACCUSED IN A CRASH IN WHICH A TEN YEAR OLD WAS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN DRIVING HAS BEEN SET FOR LATER THIS MONTH. RANDY LEWIS AND PAULA EVANS ARE CHARGED WITH FELONY RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AND AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE. EVANS ALSO IS CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF SCHEDULED TWO AND THREE DRUGS. AUTHORITIES SAID THE TEN YEAR OLD WAS BELIEVED TO HAVE REACHED SPEEDS OF 90 MPH BEFORE HE CRASHED THE VEHICLE. A JUDGE INCREASED THE COUPLE’S BOND TO 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH. EVANS HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM JAIL, WHILE LEWIS REMAINS BEHIND BARS THE TWO WILL APPEAR IN GENERAL SESSIONS COURT IN BRISTOL ON OCTOBER 14TH. ALL THREE CHILDREN ARE IN STATE’S CUSTODY.
