Virginians are paying an average of 30 cents less for gas than they were two weeks ago. AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price is now $3.42 for a gallon of regular gasoline. Virginia’s prices were slightly below the national average of $3.45 on Wednesday. In Virginia, the highest gas price was in Charlottesville where the average was $3.61. AAA said improving gas inventories following the refinery and pipeline shutdowns dued to Gulf region hurricanes was another reason for the decrease in gas prices. AAA officials say it is likely gas prices will continue to fall faster and further in the days ahead due to the recent sharp drop in the price of oil.
