A SULLIVAN COUNTY JUDGE HAS INCREASED THE BOND FOR A COUPLE ACCUSED IN A CRASH IN WHICH A TEN YEAR OLD WAS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN DRIVING. RANDY LEWIS AND PAULA EVANS ARE CHARGED WITH FELONY RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AND AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE. EVANS ALSO IS CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF SCHEDULED TWO AND THREE DRUGS. AUTHORITIES SAID WHEN THEY ARRIVED ON THE SCENE OF THE CRASH, EVANS WAS ALLEGEDLY STANDING IN THE ROAD AND PUTTING PILLS INTO HER MOUTH. THIS IS LEWIS’ 3RD DUI. AUTHORITIES SAID THE TEN YEAR OLD WAS BELIEVED TO HAVE REACHED SPEEDS OF 90 MPH WHEN HE WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THE CAR. A JUDGE INCREASED THE COUPLE’S BOND TO 50-THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH. ALL THREE CHILDREN ARE IN STATE’S CUSTODY. IF THEY DON’T MAKE BOND TODAY THEN A PRELIMINARY HEARING DATE WILL BE SET.
