LAYOFFS AND TUITION INCREASES ARE NOT EXPECTED WITH THE TRIMMER SPENDING PLANS. TENNESSEE GOVERNOR PHIL BREDESEN’S ADMINISTRATION TOLD HIGHER EDUCATION OFFICIALS FRIDAY THE CUTS WERE REQUIRED DUE TO STATE DEFICITS. IN ALL, TENNESSEE BOARD OF REGENT SCHOOLS MUST ELIMINATE 25 MILLION DOLLARS.
