AN EARLY MORNING HEAD-ON COLLISION IN KINGSPORT HAS KILLED ONE DRIVER AND INJURED ANOTHER. AROUND 7:30, A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY 84 YEAR OLD JUNELL HENSLEY OF KINGSPORT AND A MOTORCYLE OPERATED BY 50 YEAR OLD WYLIE COMPTON, JR. ALSO OF KINGSPORT COLLIDED HEAD-ON ON JOHN B. DENNIS HIGHWAY NEARLY MORELAND DRIVE. ACCORDING TO DALE FARMER WITH THE KINGSPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT’S TRAFFIC UNIT, MRS. HENSLEY WAS NORTH BOUND IN THE SOUTH BOUND AND COLLIDED WITH COMPTON. COMPTON WAS KILLED IN THE ACCIDENT, WHILE HENSLEY RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. NEITHER DRUGS, ALCOHOL, OR SPEEDING ARE BELIVED TO HAVE BEEN FACTORS IN THE CRASH. THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING, AND CHARGES ARE PENDING THE OUTCOME OF THE INVESTIGATION.
