CONSTRUCTION OF THE REGIONAL CENTER FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING IN DOWNTOWN KINGSPORT IS UNDERWAY. STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS GATHERED YESTERDAY OUTSIDE THE DOMTAR PAPER MILL FOR A GRANDBREAKING CEREMONY. THE NEW EDUCATIONAL FACILITY WILL BE LOCATED ON CLINCHFIELD STREET AND WILL OFFER ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE PROGRAMS IN ELECTRICAL, MACHINE TOOL, WELDING FABRICATION AND CHEMICAL PROCESS OPERATIONS. THE RCAM IS A PARTNERSHIP OF DOMTAR, EASTMAN CHEMICAL COMPANY, NORTHEAST STATE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AND THE CITY OF KINGSPORT. THE CENTER IS BEING PUT IN PLACE TO ENSURE THAT LOCAL INDUSTRIES HAVE THE SKILLED WORK FORCE THEY NEED FOR THE FUTURE.
