A TAZEWELL COUNTY VIRGINIA JURY HAS CONVICTED A FLORIDA MAN IN THE DEATH OF A CLINTWOOD MAN LAST YEAR. ANTHONY GIBSON WAS FOUND GUILTY OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE DEATH OF 41 YEAR OLD DARIN STANLEY. GIBSON RECEIVED A SENTENCE OF LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE. THIS WAS HIS SECOND TRIAL AFTER HIS FIRST ONE ENDED IN A HUNG JURY. THIS TRIAL WAS MOVED FROM DICKENSON COUNTY WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED, DUE TO PUBLICITY SURROUNDING IT. PROSECUTORS CONTENDED STANLEY WAS KILLED BECAUSE GIBSON THOUGHT HE WAS A POLICE INFORMANT WHO WAS CHEATING HIM OUT OF DRUGS, BUT GIBSON CLAIMED HE HAD NEVER MET STANLEY.
