BRISTOL TENNESSEE’S DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS IS STEPPING DOWN FROM HIS POSITION. 57 YEAR OLD DR. STEVE DIXON HAS ANNOUNCED HE WILL RETIRE AT THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR. DIXON HAS SPENT THE PAST 14 YEARS AT THE HELM OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM WHERE HE WAS ALSO A TEACHER AND STUDENT. DIXON’S LAST DAY WILL BE JUNE 30TH, 2009. STATE LAW REQUIRES THE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO ELECT A NEW DIRECTOR BY APRIL BECAUSE THERE IS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION IN MAY. DIXON DOESN’T KNOW WHO WILL REPLACE HIM. BUT FEELS IT WOULD BE BEST IF TWO OR THREE IN-HOUSE CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE JOB.
