A WISE COUNTY VIRGINIA GRAND JURY HAS INDICTED TWO FORMER EMPLOYEES OF THE WISE SKILLS CENTER ON EMBEZZLEMENT CHARGES. FORMER SKILLS DIRECTOR BRIDGET LIVESAY IS CHARGED WITH FOUR COUNTS OF MISUSE OF PUBLIC FUNDS AND ONE COUNT OF EMBEZZLING 200 DOLLARS OR MORE FROM THE SKILLS CENTER, WHILE FORMER CASE WORKER KAREN CHEEK FACES 17 COUNTS OF EMBEZZLING 200 DOLLARS OR MORE FROM THE AGENCY. CHEEK IS ALLEGED TO HAVE TAKEN OVER 11-THOUSAND DOLLARS WHILE LIVESAY IS ACCUSED OF TAKING ABOUT FIVE THOUSAND. THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL ONGOING. ALTHOUGH THE SKILLS CENTER RECEIVES SOME FEDERAL FUNDING, COMMONWEALTH ATTORNEY RON ELKINS SAID THERE’S NO INDICATION THE PROBE TURNED UP ANY MISUSE OF FEDERAL DOLLARS. CHEEK AND LIVESAY WILL BE ARRAIGNED BY A JUDGE BEFORE PLEA DATES OR TRIAL DATES ARE SET.
