JOHNSON CITY POWER CUSTOMERS WHO ARE ON BUDGET BILLING COULD SEE A BIG JUMP IN THEIR BILLS THIS MONTH. DUE TO THE INCREASING COST OF POWER, THESE CUSTOMERS WILL SEE THEIR BILLS GO UP BY 20 PERCENT. THIS COMES IN THE WAKE OF A RECENT INCREASE PASSED ON TO LOCAL UTILITIES BY THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY. CUSTOMERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ACCEPT THE HIKE, BUT WILL HAVE TO TELL THE POWER BOARD NOT TO INCREASE THEIR BILLING. HOWEVER, THIS COULD LEAVE THEM WITH A LARGE BILL TO SETTLE AT THE END OF THE BUDGET YEAR.
