A MAN ON TRIAL FOR A STABBING INCIDENT THAT LEFT A LOCAL MAN DEAD HAS ADMITTED TO A LESSER CHARGE IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE. A YEAR AND A HALF AFTER STABBING JIM OVERMAN TO DEATH WITH A POCKETKNIFE, JASON PHILLIPS PLED GUILTY IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE TO SECOND DEGREE MURDER AFTER ACCEPTING A PLEA BARGAIN FROM THE STATE. IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS PLEA, PHILLIPS RECEIVE A 15-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE. HE CLAIMS THE STABBING WAS IN SELF DEFENSE. PHILLIPS APOLOGIZED IN COURT TO THE VICTIM’S EX WIFE AND DAUGHTER WHO BOTH WITNESSED THE MURDER. HIS ALLEGED CO-DEFENDANTS, DANIEL BLACK AND MICHAEL BLANKENSHIP ARE SET FOR A PLEA DEADLINE HEARING ON NOVEMBER 24TH.
