DAY THREE IN THE SULLIVAN COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT TRIAL IN THE JUNE 2002 MURDER OF 51 YEAR OLD TERRY RHYMER OF BRISTOL TENNESSEE IS SET TO BEGIN THIS MORNING. JOEY GOINS IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER. SEVERAL WITNESSES FOR THE PROSECUTION TOOK THE STAND ON TUESDAY. AMONG THE WITNESSES WAS POLICE LT. DEBBIE MCCAULEY WHO TALKED ABOUT INTERVIEWING SEVERAL WITNESSES AND POSSIBLE SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION WITH RHYMER’S MURDER. ONE OF THOSE WAS JUSTIN JONES, WHO KILLED EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT JAMES NORWOOD AND PLEADED GUILTY TO SECOND DEGREE MURDER IN RHYMER’S DEATH. RHYMER WAS FOUND BEATEN AND STABBED TO DEATH AT HIS APARTMENT ON HILL STREET. GOIN’S ATTORNEY DIDN’T SAY WHETHER OR NOT HIS CLIENT WOULD TAKE THE STAND. THE TRIAL IS EXPECTED TO LAST THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK.
