SMYTH COUNTY, VIRGINIA AUTHORITIES SAY A MEDICAL EXAMINER HAS IDENTIFIED THE SKELETAL REMAINS FOUND NEAR HUNGRY MOTHER STATE PARK OVER A WEEK AGO. SHERIFF DAVID BRADLEY SAID THE HUMAN REMAINS ARE THOSE OF 61 YEAR OLD JOHNNIE DUNIVAN. THE IDENTIFICATION WAS MADE USING DENTAL RECORDS. ACCORDING TO SHERIFF BRADLEY, CAUSE OF DEATH MAY HAVE BEEN SUICIDE. HIKERS FOUND DUNIVAN’S SKULL ON PRIVATE PROPERTY ON AUGUST 31ST. DETECTIVES SAID DUNIVAN’S SKULL REVEALED A SINGLE GUNSHOT WOUND. DUNIVAN WAS WANTED ON WARRANTS OUT OF MISSOURI ON CHARGES OF THE DEVIANT SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD. THE SHERIFF ASKS THAT ANYONE WHO CAME IN CONTACT WITH DUNIVAN TO CONTACT HIS OFFICE.
