A SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA COUNTY IS GETTING FEDERAL GRANT MONEY TO IMPROVE SEWER AND WATER QUALITY. DICKENSON COUNTY WILL BE RECEIVING A 390-THOUSAND DOLLAR GRANT TO FINANCE THE SECOND PHASE OF THE HAYSI TO BIG A MOUNTAIN WATER PROJECT SERVING 80 TOWN RESIDENTS. THE VIRGINIA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT IS A FEDERALLY FUNDED GRANT ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. MEANWHILE, 9TH DISTRICT CONGRESMAN RICK BOUCHER HAS ANNOUNCED AN 8 MILLION DOLLAR LOW INTEREST FEDERAL LOAN TO THE TAZEWELL COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE AUTHORITY. THE MONEY WILL BE USED FOR A NEW WASTEWATER SYSTEM WHICH WILL PROVIDE SERVICES FOR THE FIRST TIME TO 600 HOMES AND BUSINESSES IN THE BAPTIST VALLEY COMMUNITY.
