THE JOHNSON CITY CITY COMMISSION HAS DECIDED TO AMEND ZONING REGULATIONS FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT FACILITIES. THIS WILL MEAN DRUG COUNSELING WILL HAVE TO STAY AWAY FROM RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS. THIS NEW AMENDMENT WILL PROTECT RESIDENTIAL HOMES BY LIMITING TREATMENT FACILITIES TO BUSINESS, INDUSTRIAL AND MEDICAL RESEARCH ZONES. BUT THOSE TREATMENT CENTERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS ARE GRANDFATHERED IN AND WILL NOT HAVE TO RELOCATE.
