A WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE JURY HAS CONVICTED A JOHNSON CITY MAN ON A LESSER CHARGE INVOLVING THE MURDER OF ANOTHER MAN NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO. THE JURY FOUND JASON AUSTIN GUILTY OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF BRIAN RICKER OUTSIDE THE DAYS INN MOTEL IN JOHNSON CITY IN 2005. THIS IS WHAT HIS CO-DEFENDANT AND COUSIN DANNY GREENE RECEIVED FROM A JURY LAST YEAR. A THIRD PERSON, WHO DROVE THE TWO MEN TO THE MOTEL, MARK COFFEY TESTIFIED AGAINST AUSTIN AND GREENE AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO FACILITIATION TO COMMIT SECOND DEGREE MURDER. ALL THREE WILL BE BACK IN COURT ON OCTOBER 10TH. AUSTIN AND COFFEY WILL BE SENTENCED AT THAT TIME WHILE GREENE IS SEEKING A NEW TRIAL.
