THE SULLIVAN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION HAS TRIMMED ONE MILLION DOLLARS FROM IT’S INITIAL 91.4 MILLION DOLLAR 2008-2009 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET. THE BUDGET COMMITTEE HAS VOTED TO SET THE SCHOOL SYSTEM’S SPENDING PLAN AT 90.4 MILLION DOLLARS. IN ALL, JUST OVER 655-THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR NON-PERSONNEL ITEMS AND 376-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN PERSONNEL CUTS. THE SLIMMER BUDGET WAS APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION YESTERDAY AND WILL USE 1.6 MILLION DOLLARS OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM’S ESTIMATED 6-MILLION DOLLAR FUND BALANCE.
