A SOLDIER FROM ELIZABETHTON HAS BEEN KILLED WHILE SERVING IN IRAQ. 41 YEAR OLD SEARGENT STEVEN MADDIES SERVED WITH TROOP F FROM BRISTOL DURING THE 278TH’S DEPLOYMENT TO IRAQ IN 2004 AND 2005. HE VOLUNTEERED TO GO BACK TO IRAQ WITH ANOTHER ARMY NATIONAL GUARD UNIT AND WAS KILLED MONDAY WHEN HIS UNIT CAME UNDER ATTACK JUST 18 DAYS BEFORE HE WAS SCHEDULED TO COME HOME.
