A GREENE COUNTY BANK EMPLOYEE ACCUSED OF BILKING MONEY FROM HER EMPLOYER HAS ADMITTED TO THE CRIME IN U.S. DISTRICT COURT IN GREENEVILLE. 23 YEAR OLD MEGAN NICOLE WADDELL WAIVED INDICTMENT BY A FEDERAL GRAND JURY AND PLED GUILTY TO ONE COUNT OF EMBEZZLEMENT BY AN EMPLOYEE OF A FEDERALLY INSURED BANK. WADDELL WAS A TELLER AT THE BYPASS BRANCH OF HERITAGE COMMUNITY BANK. SHE WAS TERMINATED WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT SHE HAD ENTERED THE BRANCH AFTER HOURS ON A WEEKEND, TAKEN CASH FROM A TELLER DRAWER AND LEFT A CHECK MADE PAYABLE TO CASH. A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN ACTUAL CASH ON HAND AND THE GENERAL LEDGER OCCURRED. THE AMOUNT OF THE DISCREPANCY WAS DETERMINED TO BE OVER 18-THOUSAND DOLLARS. WADDELL LATER ADMITTED TO TAKING MONEY FROM THE BANK IN LATE 2006 AND EARLY 2007. SHE WILL BE SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT ON FEBRUARY 2ND.
