THERE’S RECORD SETTING ENROLLMENT THIS YEAR IN TAZEWELL COUNTY, VIRGINIA. ACCORDING TO TAZEWELL HIGH SCHOOL PRINICPAL KEITH HOVIS, THE SCHOOL YEAR IS EXPERIENCING ITS LARGEST ENROLLMENT IN A DECADE. HOVIS SAID THIS SCHOOL YEAR STARTED OFF WITH BETWEEN 750 AND 760 STUDENTS. THE REASON – THE MAJORITY OF POCAHONTAS STUDENTS CHOSE TO COME TO TAZEWELL COUNTY. SO, ADDITIONAL LOCKERS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THS. ALSO CLASSROOM SPACE WILL BE UTILIZED DIFFERENTLY TO ACCOMODATE THE LARGE ENROLLMENT INCREASE. HOVIS ADDED THAT MANY OF THE FORMER POCAHONTAS STUDENTS ARE ALREADY ENROLLED IN FALL SPORTS AT THS INCLUDING CROSS COUNTRY, GOLF, VOLLEYBALL, AND FOOTBALL.
