TESTIMONY WILL RESUME THIS MORNING IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT IN THE TRIAL OF A MAN ACCUSED OF HIS PART IN THE KILLING OF ANOTHER MAN OUTSIDE A JOHNSON CITY MOTEL. 28 YEAR OLD JASON AUSTIN IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF BRIAN RICKER OUTSIDE THE DAYS INN ON BROWNS MILL ROAD IN 2005. A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST TESTIFIED YESTERDAY THAT RICKER WAS LIKELY KILLED BY THE SECOND OF TWO BULLETS THAT ENTERED HIS BODY. WHILE THE FIRST ONE STRUCK HIM IN THE THIGH AND HAND, THE OTHER ONE SEVERED HIS SPINE. AUSTIN’S CO-DEFENDENT AND COUSIN, DANNY GREENE IS SERVING A 23 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF A LESSER CHARGE OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER LAST AUGUST. A VERDICT COULD COME SOON IN AUSTIN’S TRIAL.
