CARTER COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE CALLING THE DEATHS OF TWO PEOPLE IN THE COUNTY A MURDER/SUICIDE. THE BODIES OF 33 YEAR OLD LARRY DALE HUGHEST JR. AND 30 YEAR OLD DIANA SHELL WERE FOUND IN A VERY MOUNTAINOUS REGION OF DENNIS COVE TUESDAY AFTERNOON. JUST OVER A WEEK AGO, SHELL HAD SOUGHT AN ORDER OF PROTECTION AGAINST HER EX-HUSBAND, CLAIMING THAT HE THREATENED TO KILL HER. SHELL’S VEHICLE WAS FOUND WEDNESDAY NIGHT ABANDONED. SWAT AND A K-9 UNIT CONDUCTED A MANHUNT. THE COUPLE WAS FOUND A SHORT TIME LATER DECEASED FROM APPARENT GUNSHOT WOUNDS. THE BODIES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO THE QUILLEN COLLEGE OF MEDICINE FOR AUTOPSIES. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION REGARDING THIS INVESTIGATION SHOULD CALL THE CARTER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
