ANOTHER JURY PANEL HAS BEEN CALLED UP AFTER THE CURRENT POOL OF POTENTIAL JURORS WAS DEPLETED IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT IN THE TRIAL OF A MAN ACCUSED OF HIS PART IN A 2005 MURDER IN JOHNSON CITY. 28 YEAR OLD JASON AUSTIN IS CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF 21 YEAR OLD BRIAN RICKER. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED IN THE DAYS INN PARKING LOT ON BROWNS MILL ROAD IN JOHNSON CITY. DEFENSE ATTORNEY GENE SCOTT SAID HE PLANS TO BUILD A CASE FOR AUSTIN AROUND SELF DEFENSE. AUSTIN’S CO-DEFENDENT AND COUSIN, 23 YEAR OLD DANNY GREENE IS SERVING A 23 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE AFTER BEING CONVICTED ON A LESSER CHARGE OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER LAST AUGUST.
