A FEDERAL JUDGE HAS DENIED A MOTION FROM A LANDOWNER AND LOGGER TO DISSOLVE A PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION THAT STOPPED LOGGING ON ISON ROCK RIDGE IN WISE COUNTY VIRGINIA. THE JUDGE RULED THERE WASN’T ANY EVIDENCE TO SHOW MOUNTAIN FOREST PRODUCTS OR PENN VIRGINIA WOULD SUFFER ANY MAJOR HARM AS A RESULT OF THE TEMPORARY INJUNCTION. THE CASE WAS BROUGHT BY THE SIERRA CLUB AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN MOUNTAIN STEWARDS AS A WAY TO HAVE LOGGING STOPPED ON A PROPOSED STRIP MINE SITE WHILE A PERMIT IS PENDING APPROVAL. THIS MOST RECENT RULING GIVES THE PLAINTIFFS UNTIL AUGUST 25TH AND THE DEFENDANTS UNTIL AUGUST 29TH TO FILE INFORMATION THAT WILL BE USED IN DECIDING THE CASE.
