OFFICIALS AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY ARE HAPPY THEY GOT THEIR WISH. PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF THE WORLD’S FASTEST HALF-MILE, JEFF BYRD AND TRACK OWNER BRUTON SMITH HAD LOBBIED NASCAR TO MOVE THE DATES OF THE SPRING RACE FARTHER BACK ON THE CALENDAR. NASCAR HAS DECIDED TO MOVE THE SHARPIE 300 AND FOOD CITY 500 RACES BACK TO THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 20-22. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST WEEKEND OF SPRING. ONE OF THE BIG REASONS FOR ASKING THAT IT BE PUSHED BACK IS THE INABILITY TO CONTROL THE WEATHER. MEANWHILE, FANS HAVE ALREADY STARTED COMING INTO THE AREA TO GET READY FOR RACING WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS.
