A JOHNSON CITY BROTHER AND SISTER ACCUSED OF STRIKING A CITY POLICE OFFICER WITH THEIR CAR THIS PAST WEEKEND REMAIN BEHIND BARS. 40 YEAR OLD DEARL ROGERS IS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT WHILE, 35 YEAR OLD CONNIE ROGERS IS CHARGED WITH ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT OF ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER. THEY WERE ARRESTED WEDNESDAY AT THEIR MOTHER’S HOME ON HIDDEN OAKS DRIVE IN JOHNSON CITY. AUTHORITIES SAID THE TWO-YEAR VETERAN OFFICER, JAVIER MATA, WAS ON FOOT AND WAS STRUCK AS THE COUPLE DROVE OFF WITH HIM ON THE VEHICLE. HE SUFFERED HEAD AND SHOULDER INJURIES AND IS EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED FROM A LOCAL HOSPITAL SOON. THE TWO HAD ALLEGEDLY BEEN LOOKING FOR COCAINE AND METH IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE ROGERS’ ARE BEING HELD ON A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS BOND EACH.
