A MAN CONVICTED IN A DRAG RACING INCIDENT THAT LEFT A HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING QUEEN DEAD AND HER FRIEND SEVERELY INJURED IS ASKING FOR WORK RELEASE. 20 YEAR OLD BRADLEY MULLINS IS SERVING A FOUR YEAR SENTENCE AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF VEHICULAR HOMICIDE AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT IN THE FIERY CRASH ON NORTH ROAN STREET IN 2005. JUDGE ROBERT CUPP SET A HEARING ON THE MOTION FOR AUGUST 22ND. MULLINS AND DAVID PHILLIPS WERE DRAG RACING WHEN MULLINS’ CAR RAMMED THE BACK END OF OF AN SUV, KILLING 17 YEAR OLD CORTNEY HENSLEY AND LEAVING 17 YEAR OLD COURTNEY BEARD WITH THIRD DEGREE BURNS OVER MOST OF HER BODY AFTER THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. PHILLIPS WAS ALSO CONVICTED BUT HAS SINCE FILED AN APPEAL WHICH IS STILL PENDING. MULLINS’ MOTION FOR WORK RELEASE WILL BE HEARD IN ERWIN ON AUGUST 22ND.
