FEDERAL CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST TWO SUSPECTS ACCUSED OF SETTING A FIRE THAT DESTROYED A HISTORIC DOWNTOWN TOBACCO WAREHOUSE. THE THURSDAY MORNING BLAZE AT THE BERNARD #2 WAREHOUSE HEAVILY DAMAGED THE 110-YEAR OLD STRUCTURE. 18 YEAR OLD MATTHEW KEITH ROSE AND 18 YEAR OLD JORY RAMIREZ, BOTH FROM GREENEVILLE, WERE CHARGED IN U.S. DISTRICT COURT OF EAST TENNESSEE WITH MALICIOUSLY DAMAGING AND DESTROYING THE WAREHOUSE AND ATTEMPTING TO DAMAGE PROPERTY OWNED BY THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE. GREENEVILLE POLICE CAPTAIN TERRY WEBB SAID A VIDEO TAPE WAS FOUND OF THE TWO LIGHTING A MOLOTOV COCKTAIL WHICH THEY USED TO SET OFF THE FIRE. THE WAREHOUSE HAD JUST OVERGONE A TWO-YEAR RENOVATION. THE OWNER OF THE BUILDING, KENT BEWLEY, HAD TRANSFORMED THE WAREHOUSE INTO WHAT WAS TO GOING BE AN ANTIQUE CAR MUSEUM.
