A SULLIVAN COUNTY COUPLE ACCUSED OF TRYING TO PASS OFF COCAINE AS BAKING SODA HAS BEEN INDICTED BY A GRAND JURY. 21 YEAR OLD JEREMY PORTER AND 19 YEAR OLD KAYLA JOHNSON ARE CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF COCAINE FOR RESALE, CRIMINAL SIMULATION, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND MAINTAINING A DWELLING WHERE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ARE USED OR SOLD. OFFICERS SEARCHED PORTER’S HOME AND FOUND A BAGGIE CONTAINING SEVEN GRAMS OF COCAINE. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THE DISCOVERY, HE TOLD OFFICERS THAT IT WAS SOME BAKING SODA THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SELL TO GIRL. PORTER ALLEGEDLY ADMITTED TO HAVING PREVIOUSLY SOLD COCAINE FROM THE RESIDENCE.
