OFFICIALS AT A JOHNSON CITY CHURCH ARE SURPRISED TO HEAR THEY’RE LAWBREAKERS. THE HOUSE OF PRAYER, A SMALL NON-DENOMINATIONAL CHURCH ON MILLIGAN HIGHWAY FOUND OUT THEY HAVE HELD TOO MANY YARD SALES. THEY HOLD THE SALES IN ORDER TO MAKE MONEY FOR CHARITY. A STATE TAX ENFORCER HAS INFORMED THE CHURCH THAT IT HAS TO COLLECT TAX FROM THE GARAGE SALES. EVEN TAX EXEMPT CHARITIES ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO HOLD TWO TAX FREE YARD SALES A YEAR AND IF MORE ARE HELD THEN TAXES MUST BE TAKEN OUT.
