AN ELIZABETHTON MAN ACCUSED OF TRYING TO RUN OVER A WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE SHERIFF’S DEPUTY WITH A CAR HAS TURNED HIMSELF IN TO POLICE. 21 YEAR OLD TERRY SHEPHERD ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO RUN OVER AN OFFICER JULY 8TH AT A PROBATION OFFICE IN JOHNSON CITY. THE OFFICER WAS TRYING TO SERVE A WARRANT FOR HIS ARREST STEMMING FROM A PROBATION VIOLATION. SHEPHERD HAD BEEN ON PROBATION FOR ATTEMPTED SECOND DEGREE MURDER AND ASSAULT CONVICTIONS WHEN HE WAS ARRESTED IN CARTER COUNTY FOR THEFT. HE TURNED HIMSELF IN THIS WEEK, BUT DENIES TRYING TO RUN OVER THE OFFICER. HE’S CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE DETENTION CENTER.
