TWO FORMER EMPLOYEES OF THE LEE COUNTY VIRGINIA TREASURER’S OFFICE ACCUSED OF TAKING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS HAVE PLED GUILTY TO FELONY EMBEZZLEMENT IN LEE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT. 20 YEAR OLD CARESSIE REASOR OF BIG STONE GAP PLED GUILTY UNDER THE ALFORD RULE, MEANING SHE DIDN’T ADMIT GUILT BUT ACKNOWLEDGED PROSECUTORS HAD AMPLE EVIDENCE FOR A CONVICTION IF THE CASE IF IT WENT TO TRIAL. MEANWHILE, 23 YEAR OLD ELIZABETH METCALFE OF EWING PLED GUILTY TO FELONY EMBEZZLEMENT. A JUDGE SENTENCED BOTH METCALFE AND REASOR TO ONE YEAR OF SUPERVISED PROBATION. BOTH WOMEN WERE WORKING PART-TIME WHEN THEY ALLEGEDLY TOOK NEARLY SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS BETWEEN JULY 2006 AND JANUARY OF LAST YEAR.
