THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT JOHNSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL IS FACING CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY DRIVING DRUNK. 41 YEAR OLD MICHAEL ATWOOD IS CHARGED WITH DUI AND IMPLIED CONSENT VIOLATION. HE WAS STOPPED IN ELIZABETHTON LATE THURSDAY NIGHT. THE OFFICER CLAIMS ATWOOD HAD A STRONG ODOR OF ALCOHOL ON HIS BREATH AND PERFORMED VERY POORLY ON A SOBRIETY TEST. HE’S SCHEDULED TO BE ARRAIGNED IN CARTER COUNTY GENERAL SESSIONS COURT AUGUST 11TH. JOHNSON COUNTY DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS MORRIS WOODRING SAID THE NEWS OF THE INCIDENT COMES AS A SHOCK AND THAT THE SITUATION IS BEING MONITORED. NO ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN.
