A MINING ACCIDENT IN BUCHANAN COUNTY VIRGINIA HAS CLAIMED THE LIFE OF A COUNTY MAN. 44 YEAR OLD TODD MEADOWS WAS KILLED FRIDAY AFTERNOON WHILE CONDUCTING ROOF BOLTING OPERATIONS AT THE CONSOLIDATED COAL MINE #1. OFFICIALS SAY A LARGE ROCK BROKE LOOSE AND STRUCK HIM IN THE HEAD. MEADOWS HAD MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A ROOF BOLTER IN THE MINE. STATE AND FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS ARE CONTINUING TO PROBE THE ACCIDENT.
