A SIX MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED IN GREENE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT AGAINST A COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE LAWSUIT IS IN CONNECTION WITH A FATAL 2007 TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ALLEGEDLY INVOLVING THE BAILEYTON-BASED UNITED VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, ONE OF ITS FIREFIGHTERS, AND THE GREENE COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS. JAMES DARRYL HENDERSON DIED ON JULY 12TH, 2007 FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN A JUNE 16TH COLLISION BETWEEN HIS VEHICLE AND ONE DRIVEN BY TRAVIS JOE DEARSTONE WHO WAS A UNITED VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FIREFIGHTER. THE LAWSUIT SEEKS FIVE MILLION DOLLARS IN COMPENSATORY DAMAGES AND ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
