FOUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INDICTED BY A WISE COUNTY VIRGINIA GRAND JURY FOR ALLEGATIONS OF VOTER FRAUD RELATED TO ELECTIONS IN THE TOWN OF ST. PAUL. THE FOUR ARE ACCUSED OF FALSLY CLAIMING THEY WERE TOWN RESIDENTS IN ORDER TO INFLUENCE A HIGHLY-CHARGED TOWN ELECTION. BILL JOE STEFFEY, SR. IS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT EACH OF ELECTION FRAUD AND CONSPIRACY, DONNA GREEAR AND ROGER TACKETT ARE EACH FACING ONE COUNT OF CONSPIRACY, AND AMANDA LEANN HONAKER IS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT OF ELECTION FRAUD. THE CHARGES ARE FELONIES, AND CARRY SENTENCES OF UP TO TEN YEARS. THIS COMES A FEW YEARS AFTER A SIMILAR INCIDENT IN APPALACHIA. THE MAYOR, SEVERAL COUNCIL MEMBERS AND OTHERS WERE CONVICTED OF BUYING VOTES AND CONDUCTING AN ILLEGAL ELECTION.
