WITH DECLINING ECONOMIC CONDITIONS, A TRI CITIES COMPANY IS REACTING WITH A TEMPORARY HALT TO PRODUCTION. GENERAL SHALE OFFICIALS SAID THEY HAVE SENT LAYOFF NOTICES TO WORKERS ABOUT THE MOVE. THE PRODUCTION HALT WILL TAKE PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 15TH. COMPANY SPOKESMAN MARK KINSER SAID THE SHUTDOWN IS DUE TO THE SLOWDOWN OF THE ECONOMY AND THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. A BRIGHT SPOT THOUGH – KINSER SAID HE ANTICIPATES REOPENING A PRODUCTION LINE AS SOON AS MARKET CONDITIONS CHANGE. ABOUT 55 PRODUCTIONS WORKERS WILL BE AFFECTED AT THE JOHNSON CITY FACILITY.
