THE MOTHER OF A TWO YEAR OLD KINGSPORT BOY WHO DIED AFTER CLIMBING INTO THE FAMILY CAR WHILE BOTH PARENTS SLEPT HAS ACCEPTED A PLEA DEAL. SHANNON GIBSON PLED GUILTY IN SULLIVAN COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT TO RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT IN EXCHANGE FOR THE STATE NOT PROSECUTING HER ON A RECKLESS HOMICIDE CHARGE. GIBSON WAS SENTENDED TO 11 MONTHS AND 29 DAYS OF UNSUPERVISED PROBATION. HER FIRST TRIAL ENDED IN A HUNG JURY. POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE GIBSONS’ HOME IN AUGUST 2005 AFTER PARKER GILSON WAS FOUND UNRESPONSIVE IN THE DRIVER’S SIDE FLOORBOARD OF THE FAMILY CAR. THE PARENTS HAD BEEN TAKING A NAP WHEN THE CHILD WENT OUT OF THE HOUSE AND CLIMBED INTO THE CAR. CHARGES ARE PENDING AGAINST ANTHONY GIBSON.
