A LOCAL WOMAN IS BEING CALLED A HERO AFTER SHE RESCUED A WOMAN FROM A BURNING HOME ON WEDNESDAY. Fire crews from Carters Valley and Stanley Valley volunteer fire department were called to THE BLAZE THAT started in the basement of a home off stanley valley road across from Caney Valley Loop Road. Jennifer Jones was dropping off her son at her parents home when she saw the smoke coming from the neighbors home. She grabbed a ladder and ran to the home, her father knocked on the doors of the home but there was no response. They put the ladder up against the back roof and Jennifer Jones climbed up. she was able to pull Connie Lawson from the bedroom and take her out on the back roof. Firefighters got Lawson and Jones away from the home. Both women were taken to holston valley medical center. No word yet on what caused the fire.
