THE KINGSPORT BOARD OF MAYOR AND ALDERMEN HAS APPROVED ON FIRST READING, THE ANNEXATION OF 360 ACRES IN THE ROCK SPRINGS COMMUNITY. THE APPROVED AREAS WILL GO FOR A SECOND READING IN AUGUST AND WILL BECOME PART OF THE CITY IN SEPTEMBER. THIS BRINGS THE CITY CLOSER TO OBTAINING EIGHT AREAS TARGETED FOR ANNEXATION NEARLY TWO YEARS AGO. LAWSUITS FILED BY SEVERAL RESIDENTS HAVE SLOWED THE PROGRESS. KINGSPORT HAS WORKED SINCE 2006 TO ANNEX NEARLY ONE THOUSAND ACRES IN THE ROCK SPRINGS COMMUNITY.
