FEWER VIRGINIANS ARE EXPECTED TO TRAVEL THIS UPCOMING FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THAT’S ACCORDING TO TRIPLE A MID-ATLANTIC. THEY PROJECT THE NUMBER OF TRAVELERS TO DROP WHEN COMPARED TO THE 2007 HOLIDAY. APPROXIMATELY 887-THOUSAND VIRGINIANS, OR ALMOST 88-PER CENT OF ALL VIRGINIA TRAVELERS, ARE EXPECTED TO TRAVEL BY AUTOMOBILE. THAT’S A 2.5 PERCENT DECREASE FROM A YEAR AGO. WINDY VANCUREN WITH TRIPLE A, SAYS FEWER VIRGINIANS WILL BE TRAVELING THIS FOURTH OF JULY DUE TO SOARING GAS PRICES, HIGHER AIRFARES COUPLED WITH FEWER FLIGHTS AND SEATS, AND GENERAL CONCERNS ABOUT THE ECONOMY.
