YET ANOTHER DELAY IN THE LONG-AWAITED TRIAL OF A GEORGIA MAN CHARGED WITH DOUBLE MURDER. TRIAL FOR HOWARD HAWK WILLIS, WHICH WAS TO HAVE STARTED IN JUST OVER A WEEK, HAS BEEN DRAWN OUT ONCE AGAIN. LAST MONTH, HAWK FILED AN APPEARL IN THE CASE SAYING HE COULD NOT REPRESENT HIMSELF. IN AN ORDER FILED WITH THE WASHINGTON COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE, THE TENNESSEE COURT OF CRIMINAL APPEALS SAID IT IS NECESSARY TO REVIEW WILLIS’ CLAIM IN ORDER TO PREVENT NEEDLESS AND EXPENSIVE FUTURE APPEALS. SO THE FUTURE OF A TRIAL FOR WILLIS NOW DEPENDS ON THE OUTCOME OF THIS LATEST APPEAL. WILLIS FACES THE DEATH PENALTY IF CONVICTED OF THE OCTOBER 2002 KILLING OF TEENAGERS SAMANTHA LEMING AND ADAM CHRISMER.
